In a strategic realignment, the Shiv Sena-UBT party is reportedly set to support BJP rebels against the Shinde Sena candidate in upcoming Maharashtra Vidhan Parishad elections for the Nashik constituency. Sanjay Raut, leader of the Shiv Sena-Ubt faction, explicitly stated that their primary adversary is the Shinde-led Shiv Sena.

According to Raut, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has withdrawn its official candidate from the Nashik seat. He expressed hope that the remaining opposition might indirectly assist the BJP rebels to counter the Shinde-led Shiv Sena.

Negotiations and Backing

Sanjay Raut underscored, "The true situation will unfold once the election results are declared. The Maha Vikas Aghadi might indirectly support BJP rebels to counter the Shinde Sena's stronghold in Nashik.""

Raut emphasized that the Shiv Sena-Ubt's primary adversary is not just the Shinde faction but the overall political environment they believe is driven by money and corruption. "They are the true champions of this brand of politics that thrives on dirty money, a situation we aim to change," he stated.

Tensions Within Mahayuti Alliance

The opposition party saw its own candidate step down amidst an internal crisis within the ruling alliance. This included BJP leaders Ganesh Gite and Gokul Gite, who have rebelled against their party's official candidate, Narendra Darade.

Ganesh Gite confirmed his intention to contest despite the withdrawal of his alliance's nominee, causing significant fractures in the Mahayuti lineup. Senior Shinde Sena minister Uday Samant has stepped into Nashik to resolve the deadlock, while BJP deputy leader Girish Mahajan is expected to play a critical role in mediating the Gite brothers.

With 14 nomination papers received, Nashik residents will witness a high-stakes game of political manoeuvres. Independent candidates and party rebels further add to the complexity of the electoral landscape.
