Renault, a renowned French automaker, is gearing up to launch its latest addition to the Indian sub-compact SUV market: the Renault Bridger. This upcoming vehicle promises to bring a unique and rugged design, positioning it directly below the new-generation Duster.
Rugged Design of the Renault Bridger
The Renault Bridger's standout feature is its boxy and upright body shape. Designed for adventure and practicality, the SUV sports a distinctive wide front grille with mesh details, flanked by sleek LED headlights that extend to the fenders. The bumper features robust black cladding and a gleaming silver skid plate at the bottom, ensuring protection on rough terrain.
Additional design elements emphasize its rugged appearance. Heavy black body cladding covers all wheel arches and parts of the doors, while the flat roof with dual-tone finish and roof rails add to its sporty look. Stylish 5-spoke star-shaped wheels in a dark finish further enhance the vehicle's aesthetic appeal. At the rear, an upright tailgate and large glass area ensure good visibility and cargo space, complemented by black D-pillars and a spare tire mounted directly on the tailgate.
An impressive 400-liter boot space ensures ample storage for outdoor adventures or daily needs.
Technical Specifications
Constructed using Renault's RGMP (Renault Global Modular Platform), the Bridger is equipped with state-of-the-art components. Power options include a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine and a more powerful turbo-petrol variant, both of which can be further complemented by a CNG option or even a mild-hybrid setup to enhance fuel efficiency.
The platform's versatility allows for easy integration of future technologies like all-wheel drive (AWD) and pure electric versions. Renault may also introduce factory-fitted CNG variants from the start, making it cost-effective in this emerging segment.
Localization efforts are expected to play a significant role in keeping the starting price within reach, estimated between ₹7 lakh and ₹13 lakh (approximately ₹1.3 million), allowing the Bridger to seamlessly fill the gap between the Kiger and Duster.
