Mahindra & Mahindra, the leading utility vehicle manufacturer in India, is set to unveil two highly anticipated SUVs during the current financial year. These include the facelifted Scorpio-N and the production variant of the Vision S, based on a new platform.
New Interior Enhancements for Scorpio-N Facelift
While the exterior will only see minor cosmetic changes, it's the interior that promises to deliver a modern makeover. The new Scorpio-N will feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity options for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. An all-digital instrument panel replaces the old analog console, offering enhanced driver visibility. Rear passenger comfort has been improved through redesigned armrests, and air conditioning vents have been repositioned.
The engine lineup remains unchanged, retaining the 2.0-liter mStallion turbo petrol (203bhp) and 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engines (175bhp). Transmission options include a manual and torque converter automatic gearbox. Some top variants will get a proper 4X4 drivetrain, which could potentially feature the DaVinci active dampers for improved ride quality.
The Scorpio-N facelift is expected to launch around Diwali, marking its return to the market as an updated powerhouse of the Indian SUV segment.
Revolutionary Mahindra Vision S
Apart from the Scorpio-N, Mahindra is also preparing for a big surprise with the upcoming Vision S. This rugged new model, based on the company's all-new NU_IQ platform, will debut at the 2027 India Mobility Expo. The Vision S has garnered significant interest due to its distinctive, muscular design, reminiscent of larger vehicles like the Scorpio and Land Rover Defender.
The production version is likely powered by a reliable 1.2-liter TGDi turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-liter diesel engine, similar to the XUV 3XO. Post-launch, it will also see hybrid and pure electric variants, catering to environmentally conscious buyers. As customers, you can expect an SUV that balances city use with rugged terrain.
Mahindra's new platform combines safety with versatility, supporting petrol, diesel, hybrid, and all-electric powertrains. Positioned between the XUV 3XO and Scorpio-N in terms of size, this compact SUV will serve a unique market niche, appealing to those seeking a sturdy utility vehicle.
