PM Ujjwala Yojana: Get LPG Cylinders for ₹300 Less
Thousands of Indian households benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana with LPG cylinders available for ₹300 less than market prices, significantly improving health and saving time.

Highlights
- •Subsidized LPG cylinders through PM Ujjwala Yojana
- •More than 100 million beneficiaries since the scheme's inception
- •Reduction in smoke-related illnesses among women and children
- •Free LPG connections and subsidized cylinders without security deposits
Despite a recent shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders across the country, millions remain eligible for subsidies under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. This scheme aims to provide clean cooking fuel to households living below the poverty line, particularly benefiting women in rural India who previously spent hours gathering firewood and dealing with smoke-related health issues.
Benefits of PM Ujjwala Yojana
The Government of India launched this initiative on May 1, 2016, to promote smoke-free cooking gas. Beneficiaries receive a free LPG connection and 12 subsidized cylinders annually, saving them approximately ₹300 per cylinder compared to the standard market price.
Under this scheme, families below the poverty line (BPL) are provided with an LPG connection without any security deposits or installation charges. To date, more than 100 million individuals have benefited from PM Ujjwala Yojana, significantly alleviating their daily struggles and improving overall health standards.
The scheme has seen a remarkable reduction in health issues linked to smoke inhalation, such as eye irritation and respiratory diseases among women and children. With the provision of subsidized LPG cylinders, these families now enjoy faster cooking times and better quality air within their homes.
Growing concerns over global supply chains due to conflicts like those involving Iran heighten the importance of India's domestic production efforts. While the government assures normalcy in supplies, price hikes have been observed. However, beneficiaries continue to receive cylinders at discounted rates as part of this initiative.
