Vedanta Projects in Odisha

The two leaders reviewed significant projects such as a 6 MTPA alumina refinery, a 3 MTPA aluminium smelter, and a 6,000 MW power plant. Additionally, an integrated coal and bauxite operation, and a downstream aluminium park were also discussed.

Chief Minister Majhi emphasized the importance of timely execution by scheduling bi-weekly reviews to ensure projects are launched as per schedule. With an estimated investment of over Rs 1 lakh crore, Vedanta has emerged as one of Odisha's largest investors, projecting a substantial contribution to job creation and industrial growth.

Key project developments include the land allocation for power plants and smelters, steady infrastructure development, and expected operational dates such as the upcoming coal block. Further, Vedanta has received approval for a rail link near its bauxite mines, enhancing transportation logistics for raw materials.

Future Prospects and Industry Transformation

The new aluminum park is poised to produce advanced products for sectors like aerospace, electric vehicles, and defense. This initiative is expected to kickstart thousands of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across the state. It also aligns with Odisha's aspirations to become a global aluminum hub.

Anil Agarwal, Vedanta's chairman, expressed his firm commitment to supporting the state in its long-term growth plans. He appreciated the support provided by the government and underscored the significant contributions these projects will make towards job creation and industrial development.
