NIA Charges 3 More Individuals in 2025 Red Fort Area Blast Case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has officially filed a supplementary chargesheet against three additional individuals in connection with the devastating car bomb explosion that occurred in the Red Fort area of New Delhi in November 2025. This tragic incident, which involved a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED), resulted in the loss of 11 lives, prompting an extensive federal probe into the terror plot.

According to the latest findings from the NIA, the three newly accused individuals have been identified as Zameer Ahmad Ahanger, Tufail Ahmad Bhat, and Muzafar Ahmad—also known by his aliases Faraz and Zafar. All three hail from Jammu and Kashmir. With this development, the total number of individuals chargesheeted in this investigation has reached 13. The list of charged persons previously included the primary conspirator, Dr. Umer Un Nabi, who is now deceased.

Details of the Terror Module Conspiracy

Investigators have highlighted the specific roles allegedly played by these individuals in the Red Fort area blast case. Among them, Muzafar Ahmad, a pediatrician by profession, is being sought by authorities. Officials have described him as a founding member of AGuH Interim, a known offshoot of the Al-Qaeda network. Evidence suggests he participated in a clandestine meeting at Eidgah in Srinagar back in June 2022, where the terror module was initially established.

Furthermore, the NIA probe indicates that Muzafar Ahmad was instrumental in the manufacturing, testing, and storage of TATP-based IEDs. These dangerous devices were reportedly handled at a secret facility located at Al-Falah University in Faridabad, which was allegedly operated by Umer Un Nabi and another co-accused named Muzammil. Authorities have since issued a non-bailable warrant for his arrest as the search continues.

Logistics and Arms Supply

The supplementary chargesheet also clarifies the involvement of the other two suspects in the Red Fort area blast case. Zameer Ahmad Ahanger is accused of serving as an overground worker (OGW) for the AGuH Interim module. Investigators claim he maintained active contact with terrorist handlers and acted as a key courier responsible for transporting arms, ammunition, and illicit cash for the group.

Meanwhile, Tufail Ahmad Bhat, described as a former OGW of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), reportedly functioned as the primary arms supplier for the module. His alleged activities included procuring an AK-47 rifle, a Krinkov rifle, and a pistol, along with various magazines and live ammunition. These items were supposedly delivered to the late Dr. Umer Un Nabi in a deal worth Rs. 3 lakh. Legal proceedings for the arrested suspects are currently underway at the NIA Special Court in the Patiala House Courts complex in New Delhi.
