On Tuesday, the Education Minister Nara Lokesh successfully conducted his 90th Praja Darbar, a dedicated forum designed to bridge the gap between the government and the public. Held at the Telugu Desam central office located in Mangalagiri, the session saw a significant turnout as citizens from various regions presented their grievances and requests for administrative intervention.
Addressing Diverse Public Concerns
The Praja Darbar serves as a direct platform for individuals and representative groups to voice their local challenges. Among the attendees, the Varikapudisela water resources protection committee emphasized the critical need to accelerate construction efforts for the Varikapudisela Lift Irrigation Project. They highlighted that this initiative is essential for the agricultural prosperity of farmers residing in the Palnadu district, urging the minister to prioritize the project's commencement.
Additionally, a group comprising 1,056 yoga instructors voiced their concerns regarding alleged procedural irregularities within the Buddha Yoga Foundation. These professionals sought official recognition for their three years of dedicated service and requested that the government ensure the continuity of their roles under improved supervision. This Praja Darbar provided them a platform to seek institutional support for their professional stability.
Banking and Infrastructure Petitions
Financial grievances were also raised during the meeting, specifically concerning a Bank of Baroda branch located in Jangareddygudem, Eluru district. A group of petitioners alleged serious discrepancies regarding the weighing and management of pledged gold ornaments. They have formally requested a comprehensive investigation into these banking irregularities to hold any errant parties accountable.
Other representations included a plea from AP MRPS, who requested the introduction of a direct cash transfer initiative aimed at supporting healthcare needs for poor pregnant women. Furthermore, they advocated for the establishment of specialized women's police stations in every assembly constituency to enhance security. Addressing infrastructure needs, N Mallikarjuna Naidu of Venkatadripalem, Prakasam district, requested funding for local development, specifically for constructing new roads and a bridge over Gandivagu to boost regional connectivity.
Following the presentation of these various issues, Nara Lokesh assured all participating delegations that their petitions would be thoroughly examined. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to facilitating resolution through the relevant departments, ensuring that public concerns addressed at the Praja Darbar receive appropriate and timely attention.
