The alleged custodial death case involving G Sai Krishna has sparked significant unrest and demands for accountability in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. The victim's family, represented by Perupogu Venkateswara Rao Madiga, has formally requested a high-level inquiry into the actions of the former Krishna Lanka police CI, Nagaraju. The investigation centers on allegations of severe physical abuse and the subsequent illicit disposal of the victim's remains without family consent.
Central to this Krishna Lanka CI case is a distressing selfie video recorded by another individual, Perupogu Kranthi Kumar, on May 21. In the footage, he detailed being subjected to intense torture by the same inspector, Nagaraju. He claimed that the harassment, which included caste-based slurs due to his identity as a Dalit, ultimately drove him to take his own life. This piece of evidence has become a focal point for authorities investigating the patterns of misconduct attributed to the suspended official.
Demands for Justice and Accountability
Speaking at the Vijayawada Press Club, Perupogu Venkateswara Rao Madiga, who serves as the state president of AP MRPS, publicly challenged the integrity of local police operations. He alleged that certain officers frequently exploit individuals by forcing rowdy-sheeters to act as informants, often resorting to brutal third-degree interrogation methods when those individuals fail to meet their demands. He emphasized that the systemic harassment only surfaced due to his son's final video testimony.
The aggrieved father has directly appealed to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan to initiate a swift, transparent investigation into the Krishna Lanka CI case. Furthermore, he explicitly denied rumors suggesting that he had reached a financial settlement with the authorities to drop the matter, reiterating his commitment to obtaining justice for his son. As the Krishna Lanka CI case continues to unfold, legal proceedings under the BNS Act are underway. The suspended inspector faces serious charges, including wrongful confinement, murder, and the destruction of evidence, while a specialized team conducts a thorough examination of the incident to ensure those responsible are held accountable under the law.
