Vijayawda: The central government has taken a significant step towards bolstering the financial independence of women's self-help groups (WSHGs) by permitting collateral-free loans up to ₹10 lakhs under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), as reported by P.V.N. Madhav, Andhra Pradesh BJP President and former member of legislative council.

Expressing elation over this decision, Madhav highlighted that the Narendra Modi-led union government has consistently prioritized women empowerment and rural economic development through various welfare programs and self-employment initiatives. He elaborated on how DAY-NRLM aims to improve the socio-economic condition of both urban and rural poor by providing skill development training and employment opportunities, particularly for women.

Boosting Rural Women's Self-reliance

The latest policy decision, Madhav underscored, would augment poverty alleviation efforts while fostering self-reliance among women through financial empowerment. According to Madhav's estimates, if even 10 lakhs of women availed this scheme in Andhra Pradesh alone, it could trigger an economic influx of over ₹1 lakh crore into the rural economy.

"The enhanced credit facility is poised to provide a substantial impetus for women's financial self-sufficiency," Madhav opined. This initiative aims to enable women entrepreneurs engaged in small businesses, micro-industries, dairy farming, and food processing units to prosper significantly."

Critical to this scheme's effectiveness is the absence of collateral requirements, which simplifies access and enhances the overall feasibility for these groups.
