The AP JAC Amaravati has issued a formal warning, signaling that staff members may soon take to the streets to demand the release of long-overdue benefits and allowances.
Growing Financial Strain on Government Employees
During a significant meeting held in Nellore, AP JAC Amaravati chairman Bopparaju Venkateswarlu addressed district and divisional leaders from various employee associations. He highlighted that while government staff remain committed to their duties, they are grappling with severe financial pressure caused by inflation and rising EMI obligations. Venkateswarlu emphasized that the government has failed to provide necessary financial relief, placing undue stress on the workforce through rigorous performance monitoring and ranking systems.
The leadership of the AP JAC Amaravati underscored that employees view themselves as the foundational pillars of the administration, rather than a fiscal burden. They are not seeking bonuses, but rather the fulfillment of legitimate dues that have remained unpaid for years. Specifically, the organization is demanding the immediate release of pending dearness allowances (DA), the provision of interim relief (IR), and the long-awaited constitution of a new Pay Revision Commission (PRC), which is already more than three years overdue.
Mobilizing for a Statewide Movement
The dissatisfaction stems from a perceived lack of action regarding promises made in the coalition manifesto concerning employee welfare. Bopparaju Venkateswarlu noted that no dearness allowance has been issued since the current government took charge. In response, the AP JAC has launched extensive consultations with employees' associations across all 28 districts to build consensus for a powerful, unified protest.
Supporting this stance, AP JAC Amaravati Agitation Committee chairman T.V. Phani Perraju criticized the government for its lack of transparency regarding financial obligations to both current employees and pensioners. He confirmed that the organization is actively developing a comprehensive action plan to protect their interests.
In Nellore, district chairman Allampati Penchala Reddy pledged full support, stating that local employees are prepared to participate in any movement initiated by the state leadership. The meeting saw participation from a diverse array of sectors, including engineers, revenue staff, outsourcing workers, and data-entry operators, all united by the common goal of securing their financial rights.
