The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh is making significant progress, with authorities reporting that over 58 percent of the required enumeration forms have been distributed across the state within the first week of the initiative. This vital administrative exercise, which commenced on June 15 and is scheduled to run until July 14, is designed to ensure the accuracy and currency of the state's electoral rolls ahead of upcoming polling events.
Successful Implementation of the SIR Exercise
According to official reports from election authorities, the planning phase for the Special Intensive Revision was executed efficiently, with all 4.16 crore necessary enumeration forms printed for the state’s 4,16,27,694 eligible voters, marking 100 percent coverage in terms of preparation. To date, approximately 2,41,93,304 of these forms have successfully reached the public, translating to a distribution rate of 58.12 percent. The commission has mobilized a workforce of 46,397 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to facilitate this expansive outreach program across every district.
The digitization process, which runs concurrently with the distribution, has already seen 8,45,108 forms uploaded into the system, representing 2.03 percent of the total electorate. State officials continue to emphasize the importance of this work, urging citizens to extend their full cooperation to the designated Booth Level Officers to help maintain precise voter records.
District-Wise Progress and Disparities
Performance metrics indicate varied outcomes across different regions. The Krishna district currently leads the state in the distribution of Special Intensive Revision forms, achieving an impressive 84.15 percent coverage. This is followed closely by Tirupati at 81.30 percent and Chittoor at 80.59 percent. Other areas, including Vizianagaram, Anakapalli, and Guntur, have also demonstrated strong momentum with coverage rates surpassing 72 percent.
Conversely, certain districts are currently behind in their distribution targets. West Godavari has reached 35.73 percent, while the NTR district stands at 38.86 percent. Other regions such as Nandyal and Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore are also working to accelerate their efforts to meet the mid-July deadline. Regarding data digitization, Srikakulam has emerged as the frontrunner with over 1.11 lakh forms processed, while Sri Sathya Sai district reports one of the highest percentage-based digitization rates. Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav has confirmed that the broader revision schedule remains on track despite these regional variations.
