Previously, the scheme provided ₹15,000 in a single payment. The upgrade from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 caters to the needs of economically weaker families, ensuring no obstacles hinder their pursuit of higher education.
The Yojana, launched in October 2019, includes six installments corresponding with different developmental phases of the beneficiary's daughter: birth, one-year-old vaccination, Class 1 and 6 admission, Class 9 admission, and final installment for higher secondary education or graduate/diploma courses.
Eligible families in Uttar Pradesh are those with total annual income not exceeding ₹3 lakh, and only two daughters per family can benefit, subject to certain exemptions like twin births.
