Amid widespread speculation regarding potential political shifts, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray recently conducted a high-level meeting with the party's Lok Sabha members. The session, held at his residence, Matoshree, in Mumbai, aimed to address growing rumors of internal defections to the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena. Ensuring the party remains cohesive is currently a primary concern for the leadership, as the organization navigates a complex political landscape in Maharashtra.

Addressing Internal Concerns and Defection Rumors

The meeting highlighted the party's effort to maintain unity among its parliamentary representatives. While four members of the Shiv Sena (UBT)—Arvind Sawant, Sanjay Dina Patil, Anil Desai, and Rajabhau Waze—were present in person, five others joined the discussion virtually. According to Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut, this attendance strategy underscores the collective commitment of the nine MPs to the party's direction under the leadership of Uddhav Thackeray.

Specific reasons were provided for the virtual participation of the other five MPs. For instance, Dharashiv MP Omraje Nimbalkar connected from a hospital in Pune, while Shirdi MP Bhausaheb Wakchaure attended from a Shirdi hospital to support his wife. Additionally, Hingoli MP Nagesh Ashtikar and Washim MP Sanjay Deshmukh joined remotely due to personal commitments, including electoral preparations and family events. Parbhani MP Sanjay Jadhav reportedly maintained contact via telephone.

Political Strategy and Future Outlook

The discussions reportedly centered on significant policy matters, including a persistent demand for an unconditional farm loan waiver. Uddhav Thackeray took the opportunity to explicitly direct his parliamentary team to publicly debunk any narratives suggesting a split or imminent defection from the party. He stressed the importance of reassuring party workers and supporters that the Shiv Sena (UBT) remains a unified front.

This proactive communication strategy serves as a rebuttal to whispers regarding the so-called “Operation Tiger,” a rumored initiative purportedly aimed at engineering defections toward the Mahayuti alliance. When queried about these reports, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated he lacked information on the matter. As the political climate remains volatile, Uddhav Thackeray continues to hold regular monthly meetings with both party MLAs and MPs to solidify internal alignment.
