This significant seizure is part of an ongoing, district-wide initiative aimed at curbing the illegal transport and sale of prohibited substances, underscoring the authorities' commitment to maintaining law and order.
Details of the Ganja Seizure and Arrests
The operation led to the apprehension of two suspects in separate incidents. The individuals have been identified as Katthula Kishore, a 37-year-old resident of Bandapalem in Kandukur, and Kamanchi Rajesh, also known as Raju, a 24-year-old from Gudluru village. During these interventions, law enforcement officials recovered a combined total of 2.35 kg of ganja, highlighting the active presence of illicit supply chains in the region.
According to reports from the local police department, Katthula Kishore allegedly obtained the illicit material from a supplier based in Gudluru and was involved in distributing it within Kandukur through smaller, individual packets. Meanwhile, Kamanchi Rajesh was taken into custody near Palukuru Junction Road. During subsequent questioning, Rajesh reportedly confessed to sourcing the ganja from areas located along the Odisha border, as well as from Visakhapatnam and Rayagada, subsequently supplying the contraband across Gudluru and Kandukur.
Legal Action and Law Enforcement Stance
Following the arrests, formal cases have been registered against both accused individuals under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The arrests were conducted under the direct supervision of the Prakasam Superintendent of Police, V. Harshavardhan Raju, who has been instrumental in spearheading the district's firm stance against the trade of narcotic substances.
Currently, investigations remain active as officials work to dismantle the broader supply network and identify other individuals involved in the illegal trafficking chain. The confiscated ganja has been securely transferred for forensic analysis, following established legal protocols. Superintendent of Police V. Harshavardhan Raju has commended his police team for their diligence and issued a stern warning to the public: authorities will maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward the manufacture, transportation, storage, sale, or consumption of narcotics. Such criminal activities will be met with stringent legal consequences to ensure community safety and prevent the proliferation of illicit drugs within the district.
