A series of distressing Andhra Pradesh incidents has cast a spotlight on public service and safety challenges in the region. Recent reports indicate a fatal lapse at a medical facility, a tragic road accident, a drowning incident, and a successful police operation involving lost property, all occurring within the state.

In Kadapa district, a 48-year-old woman named Sulochana tragically passed away at the Government Community Health Centre in Kamalapuram. According to reports, she arrived at the 50-bed facility in critical condition late Friday night. While nursing staff performed an ECG and provided preliminary care, family members alleged that no doctor was available to attend to her. The doctor reportedly arrived only after the patient had succumbed. This incident has sparked significant concerns regarding the mandatory 24/7 availability of medical teams at such centers.

Tragic Road Accidents and Public Safety Concerns

Further compounding the grim situation, a severe head-on collision occurred near Palempalle in Kadapa district on Friday night. Two vehicles were involved in the crash. The victims, Harshavardhan (20), Kishore (17), and Sai Sudheer Reddy (27), were travelling toward Tirupati. Three individuals involved in the crash died while receiving treatment at RIMS Hospital. Local authorities have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the collision.

Meanwhile, in Nellore district, a family visit to the Bara Shaheed Dargah turned into tragedy. Mohammed Sofiyan, an 11-year-old boy, drowned after being swept away by strong currents at Kotha Koduru beach. Search operations are ongoing for a 17-year-old girl, Nafeesa Rukhsana, who remains missing. Another teenager was rescued by police and is receiving medical care.

In a separate event in Seetharamapuram mandal, Nellore district, local police successfully prevented a suicide attempt. Basireddy Subba Reddy, 40, was traced by a police team using mobile tower location technology after he expressed intentions to end his life following a family dispute. He was safely returned home after receiving counseling.

On a more positive note, Krishna district police demonstrated effective use of modern technology. Superintendent of Police V. Vidyasagar Naidu announced that the department successfully recovered and returned 400 lost mobile phones worth approximately ₹60 lakh within three months. This recovery was facilitated through the national CEIR portal. Specialized teams under the Crime Control System tracked device IMEI details, highlighting the importance of registering lost devices promptly to combat personal data risks.
