Telangana Announces Free RTC Bus Travel for NEET-UG Re-exam Students

The Telangana government has officially announced a supportive measure for students preparing to appear for the NEET-UG re-exam scheduled for June 21. In a significant decision aimed at easing the logistical burden on candidates, the state administration has granted free travel services to these students on all state-run Road Transport Corporation (RTC) buses.

This initiative was confirmed by the State Transport Minister, Ponnam Prabhakar, who utilized social media to communicate the development. According to the official directive, candidates can avail themselves of this free travel facility simply by presenting their NEET hall tickets to the bus conductors or officials on the day of the examination.

Facilitating Smooth Travel for NEET-UG Re-exam Candidates

To ensure the effective implementation of this policy, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has personally instructed the Managing Director of the RTC, Nagireddy, to oversee the smooth execution of these free travel arrangements. The government's decision is part of a broader effort to ensure that no student faces transportation-related obstacles while reaching their designated examination centers across the state.

The NEET-UG re-examination comes in the wake of substantial administrative action regarding the original test. The initial medical entrance examination, conducted on May 3, faced widespread controversy following allegations of a question paper leak. Consequently, the National Testing Agency (NTA) formally canceled those results on May 12. A high-level investigation is currently being conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to address these serious claims and ensure the integrity of the medical admissions process.

Furthermore, the Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, presided over a critical review meeting on Thursday. This gathering involved high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Education, various state government representatives, members of the NTA, and administrators from key higher education institutions. The meeting focused on assessing the comprehensive preparedness for the upcoming June 21 examination date to ensure that students can appear for the test without further technical or logistical complications.

The announcement of free transport in Telangana highlights the commitment of local authorities to support students during this high-pressure period. By removing travel expenses and logistical hurdles, the government aims to assist candidates in focusing entirely on their academic performance, ultimately helping to restore confidence in the examination process following the recent disruptions.
