The incident occurred on June 21 during routine operational procedures at the manufacturing site, located in the Kannigaipair/Manjungaranai area near Periyapalayam. The release of the toxic chemical caused immediate distress to those on-site, leading to a widespread emergency response. Among the deceased, eight individuals have been identified as Shibani, Jumani Juang, Geetha Juanga, Purinama Juanga, Champabati Juanga, Parbavathi Juanga, Sita Hasda, and Anjita Soren, while the identity of the ninth victim remains under confirmation.

The aftermath of the ammonia gas leak necessitated urgent medical intervention for dozens of affected workers. Records indicate that 69 individuals were admitted to various medical facilities for acute symptoms resulting from chemical inhalation. Currently, victims are receiving care across several institutions, including Vels Hospital, Venkateswara Hospital, Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, and Stanley Medical College Hospital. While the majority of those affected continue to receive treatment, two individuals have already been discharged.
