Severe Weather Warning: Heavy Rain Expected in 12 Indian States

A new Western Disturbance is expected to hit North India soon, bringing warm temperatures and rain alerts to numerous states. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain alert for a staggering 12 states across the country over the next two days.
These states include Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, and West Bengal among others. Heavy rainfall warnings have also been issued in regions like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Telangana, and the Gangetic plains of West Bengal.
A dense fog has enveloped some parts of Punjab, creating visibility issues and a danger to drivers on roadways. The IMD has also predicted a 2-3 degree Celsius increase in maximum temperatures throughout northwestern India.
Residents are advised to take caution due to the possibility of lightning strikes, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands for upcoming thunderstorms and lightning incidents. Rain alerts have also been issued across Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, as well as the Gangetic plains of West Bengal and Jharkhand, warning people to be prepared.
