A legal and ethical stand-off between Ranveer Singh and Excel Entertainment over the blockbuster film Don 3 has turned into a public industry conflict, involving tens of crores in damages and non-cooperation directives from trade bodies.

Highlights
- •Rs 45 Crore Damage Claim
- •FWICE Ban Against Ranveer Singh
- •Creative Differences Between Farhan Akhtar & Ranveer
- •Industry-Level Conflict Over Ethical Norms
The controversial exit of actor Ranveer Singh from the blockbuster film Don 3 has escalated into a massive industry dispute. The fallout stems from contractual issues, creative differences and ethical norms in the film fraternity.
Controversial Departure: Rs 45 Crore Damage Claim
The rumble began after Ranveer Singh's sudden exit from Don 3, weeks before shooting commenced. Supported by Excel Entertainment and directed by Farhan Akhtar, the franchise was already on track with major pre-production stages completed. However, a Rs 45 crore damage claim, filed by Excel Entertainment, has exacerbated tensions.
According to reports, on April 11, Farhan Akhtar reported financial losses due to Ranveer's exit. The actor had signed a three-film deal with Excel and is being sought for Rs 45 crore in damages. There are claims that Ranveer was willing to return the Rs 10 crore signing amount but did not appear before them, adding fuel to the dispute.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) added another layer to this controversy when they issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer. This ban discourages affiliated workers and technicians from collaborating with him until the matter is resolved.
Industry Reaction and Perspectives
Beyond the private conflict, this dispute has spilled into an industry-level battle over ethical norms. Analysts and trade experts view it as a stark reminder of how such disputes can damage trust in Bollywood's hierarchical structure.
Yusuf Shaikh, founder and CEO of Janta Cinema, stated, "They had given Ranveer three notices to come and meet them so that his version could be heard, but he didn't respond." Meanwhile, Sumit Kadel, a trade analyst, noted the financial implications: "Constant delays and changing circumstances can create frustration. If someone is willing to return the signing amount, then clearly there's no intention to cause conflict."
Amit Rai, director, added that such conflicts should ideally be resolved privately. However, BN Tiwari, president of FWICE, maintained a larger stance: "No individual is above industry protocols. If tomorrow others start disregarding trade bodies, then all hell will break loose."
Ranveer's Response and Recent Temple Visit
In an interview with Times Now News, Ranveer's official spokesperson stated that the actor believes in handling such matters "with dignity, maturity, and mutual respect." However, despite the ongoing controversy, Ranveer remains focused on his work, hoping for the franchise's continued success. Recently, he also visited the Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysuru to offer prayers related to the recently resolved Kantara controversy.
