In a significant development involving the Pawan Kalyan comments case, MLC Duvvada Srinivas recently faced an intensive interrogation by local law enforcement. On Monday, police authorities in Kotturu, located in the Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh, questioned the MLC for a duration exceeding eight hours regarding controversial remarks made against the Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan during the previous year.
Investigation into Derogatory Remarks
The legal action stems from a formal complaint lodged on March 8, 2025, by representatives of the Jana Sena Party. Following the initiation of this case, Duvvada Srinivas was summoned by the Srikakulam police to provide clarification. Throughout the prolonged session, the MLC reportedly avoided answering the majority of the queries posed by investigators, maintaining a stance of ignorance by repeatedly stating, “I don’t know” and claiming he had no involvement in the matter.
When presented with evidence in the form of a video clip allegedly showcasing him making the derogatory comments, Srinivas contested the authenticity of the material. He dismissed the recording as an artificial intelligence-generated fabrication. Law enforcement officials noted that the MLC was largely uncooperative during the proceedings. As a result, authorities have served a fresh notice, requiring him to return for further questioning on June 27.
Protest Escalates Outside Police Station
The situation outside the Kotturu police station became volatile during the interrogation process. Approximately 40 supporters, organized by his partner Divvela Madhuri, staged a sit-in demonstration. The group demanded the immediate release of Duvvada Srinivas, leading to a period of heightened tension. During this protest, Divvela Madhuri engaged in a heated argument with officials present at the scene.
Addressing the aftermath, Kotturu CI Prasad Rao confirmed that an additional case has been filed in connection with the incident. Legal action has been initiated against Duvvada Srinivas, Divvela Madhuri, and 16 other individuals for organizing an unauthorized protest directly in front of the police station premises. This development adds a new layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation as local authorities continue to process the legal repercussions of both the original complaint and the subsequent obstruction during the police questioning.
