Omar Abdullah Declares National Conference Principles Are Not For Sale Amid Political Shifts

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has firmly reiterated that the National Conference (NC) remains steadfast in its political ideology, declaring that the party’s core values are definitively not for sale. Amidst evolving national political dynamics, Abdullah emphasized that his party will not compromise its principles for power, underscoring that their decision-making process is rooted in historical legacy and long-standing commitments to the people of the region.

While engaging with the media during a visit to the Bandipora district in north Kashmir, the Chief Minister addressed inquiries regarding reports of opposition members aligning with the NDA on specific legislative matters. Omar Abdullah maintained that while every political entity possesses the autonomy to determine its own path, the National Conference remains guided by its own internal convictions. He dismissed the notion that any external offer or shifting political alliance could sway the party to deviate from its established moral framework.

The Chief Minister asserted that the political trajectory of the National Conference is dictated by the public interest and its unwavering ideological foundation. He stated clearly that regardless of what alternative political arrangements are proposed or which parties choose to shift their alliances at the national level, his party will never sacrifice its integrity or moral standards for short-term political gains.

Focus on Regional Development

Beyond the discourse on political principles, the Chief Minister utilized his trip to Bandipora to oversee significant governance activities. He officially inaugurated and evaluated various development projects, representing an investment of nearly ₹300 crore aimed at regional advancement. These initiatives span critical sectors, including essential public infrastructure, transportation networks, water supply systems, electricity improvements, and healthcare services.

During the review, Omar Abdullah received briefings from departmental officials regarding the progress of these ongoing schemes. He emphasized the government's primary mandate to enhance service delivery and ensure that all development works are completed within established deadlines. The Chief Minister also facilitated direct interactions with local residents and various public delegations to hear grievances firsthand. Concerns raised by citizens, ranging from issues with road connectivity and utility supplies to employment opportunities, were noted with instructions for the relevant authorities to prioritize necessary follow-up actions.
