The Government of West Bengal has introduced several scholarships to support students financially, ensuring they do not drop out of education due to financial constraints. One of the prominent scholarships is the Oasis Scholarship, which provides financial assistance to students from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) in the state.

Recently, two important notifications have been issued regarding updates to the Oasis Scholarship. These updates are crucial for students to understand since they offer different eligibility criteria for different categories of recipients.

For ST students, logging into the National Scholarship Portal and completing one-time registration is now mandatory before applying for the post-matric scholarship. This update simplifies the application process by ensuring all stakeholders can identify and assist ST students in applying for the scholarship.

Under the Oasis Scholarship, SC students receive a scholarship ranging from Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 13,500 per year, divided into two components to accommodate different situations. The first component, Component-1, caters to SC students based on their annual income, while Component-2 covers scholarships for parents engaged in risky occupations.

Post-matric scholarship for ST students is available for those studying in classes XI or higher. They must meet certain income requirements and are eligible for financial assistance ranging from Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 13,500 annually. Additionally, the scholarship includes an 8000 rupee allowance for hostel fees, along with a 10% increase for disabled students.

In both SC and ST categories, the scholarship application process is straightforward and easily accessible online. Applicants must register on the state government's Oasis scholarship portal, submit the required application forms, and upload necessary documents to complete the application process.
