  • NTA extends NEET-UG refund deadline
  • Re-examination of NEET-UG 2026 scheduled for June 21 with no additional fees
  • Approximately 13 lakh candidates updated their bank accounts by May 22
  • Candidates can submit bank account details through the NEET (UG)-2026 registration portal

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the deadline for submitting bank account details for refund of examination fee from May to June 22. This move comes in light of the cancelled and re-scheduled NEET-UG 2026 examination amid allegations of a paper leak.

Since announcing the rescheduled exam on June 21, NTA has provided several facilities. Initially, candidates had until May 26 to update their accounts through the NEET (UG)-2026 registration portal. Despite strict deadlines, only about 13 lakh candidates managed to submit the necessary details by May 22. In response, NTA has now extended this facility further to provide more time.

NEET-UG Exam Details and Impact

The NEET-UG for medical course admissions was scheduled on May 3 but was cancelled by the NTA due to allegations of a paper leak. Nearly 23 lakh candidates registered for this examination, making it one of the most significant events in India's higher education sector.

The cancellation led to confusion and distress among students, prompting an urgent need to address refunds efficiently. As part of addressing these concerns, NTA has also clarified that no fees will be levied from candidates for participating in the re-examination scheduled on June 21. However, those who have already paid their exam fees are eligible for a refund.

Candidates can access the necessary links through the NEET (UG)-2026 registration portal. They must provide details of their preferred bank accounts and even upload a cancelled cheque to ensure accuracy. The agency has made it clear that once the account details are submitted, they will not be altered.

The NTA's extension is aimed at ensuring no candidate misses out on their due refunds or is left with uncertainty about future exam costs. It reflects a commitment from the government body to handle this crisis in a transparent and fair manner.
