A significant incident of exam malpractice has surfaced involving an 18-year-old student appearing for the NEET re-test. The candidate was apprehended at a government school examination center located in Ragannaguda, under the jurisdiction of the Adibatla police station, for attempting to use unauthorized electronic communication devices during the high-stakes assessment.
Details of the NEET Malpractice Incident
According to the Hyderabad City Police Commissioner, V.C. Sajjanar, the sequence of events began early on Sunday morning. The candidate, who hails from Achampet, arrived at the testing facility at approximately 7 am. Prior to the commencement of the exam, he managed to conceal a mobile phone within the washroom area. By 11 am, he had relocated the device, sealing it in a zip-lock cover and hiding it securely inside a toilet flush tank.
The formal examination process began at 2 pm. Despite rigorous security protocols, including two rounds of thorough inspections and mandatory frisking of all students before they entered the hall, the concealed device successfully bypassed the initial screening process. The candidate likely relied on the illicit setup to assist in answering questions during the session.
Apprehension and Police Investigation
The student's scheme was uncovered after he complained of sudden abdominal distress and requested permission to leave the exam hall to use the restroom. The invigilation staff became suspicious when the candidate remained inside the facility for an unusually long duration. Consequently, school officials deployed staff to investigate the situation, where they discovered the candidate red-handed while actively using the hidden mobile phone to access Google Chrome in a desperate bid to search for answers.
Upon this discovery, the local police were alerted, and the mobile device was immediately confiscated as evidence. Following a formal complaint filed by the school administration, law enforcement officials registered a case against the teenager and placed him into custody. Authorities are now conducting an extensive investigation to determine if this was a solitary effort or if there were external associates or a wider network involved in orchestrating the NEET malpractice attempt.
This incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by examination authorities in maintaining the integrity of national-level entrance tests. The use of sophisticated concealment methods continues to test the efficiency of existing frisking and surveillance mechanisms at designated test centers across the region.
