Medical aspirants across Andhra Pradesh faced a challenging experience during the recent NEET (UG) re-examination. Conducted on Sunday, the test took place peacefully under strict security measures and saw high turnout, yet many students noted that the question paper was significantly more difficult compared to the original assessment held on May 3.
Examination Conduct and Student Response
Thousands of medical school hopefuls gathered at designated testing sites in cities including Vijayawada, Guntur, Tenali, and Mangalagiri. To facilitate a smooth and secure examination, the National Testing Agency (NTA) worked closely with local district administrations, alongside police, power, health, and transport departments. Measures such as Aadhaar-based biometric verification, CCTV surveillance, and mobile signal jammers were implemented to maintain the integrity of the process.
In the NTR district, 10,279 out of 10,920 registered candidates participated, marking a strong attendance of 94.13 per cent. Meanwhile, Guntur district recorded a 91.79 per cent turnout, with 6,645 students appearing across 22 centers. Despite the high attendance, officials noted that traffic congestion occurred near some testing locations as students and parents departed simultaneously after the conclusion of the NEET (UG) re-examination.
Challenges and Expectations for Cut-off Scores
Analyzing the difficulty level of the paper, most participants described the examination as moderately challenging. Physics was frequently cited as the most difficult section, requiring complex calculations and significant time. Students generally found Biology to be the most accessible part of the test, as it remained largely aligned with NCERT textbooks.
Candidates shared that the level of difficulty in this re-test surpassed that of the original May exam. For example, student G. Sophie Catherine remarked that both the Physics and Chemistry sections were demanding, leading many to believe that the overall cut-off marks will likely be lower than initially expected. While the NEET (UG) re-examination provided a fair opportunity for all, the intensive nature of the questions has left many students anticipating a downward adjustment in qualifying thresholds.
