The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Project, one of India's ambitious infrastructure endeavors, is embarking on a significant phase. This week marks the arrival of a revolutionary Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) that will pave the way for underwater tunnel construction beneath Thane Creek, India's first instance of such technology.
The TBM, with a diameter of 13.65 meters, is a state-of-the-art device capable of performing multiple functions simultaneously, including excavation, debris clearance, and concrete reinforcement. This mammoth machine will operate for the first time in India, marking it as India's 'Mahamachan,' highlighting its importance to the project.

The TBM is expected to provide unparalleled safety and accuracy. Unlike traditional methods that require explosive work, this machine ensures a safer environment. It will be transported to the site in over 150 trailers, with full assembly anticipated within about 90 days post-arrival.
