On June 5, a devastating blaze consumed a residential property in Kalalwadi, claiming the lives of three individuals. The deceased were identified as 48-year-old Vanam Chandramma and her two grandchildren, 17-year-old Laxman and 15-year-old Pranathi.
Following a detailed forensic examination, Nalgonda Superintendent of Police Sharath Chandra Pawar revealed that the incident was not an accidental fire. Investigators discovered a bucket that retained the distinct scent of petrol concealed behind the residence, which served as a crucial piece of evidence that the Miryalaguda fire murder was indeed a premeditated act. Subsequent police inquiries led to the apprehension of Kalahsthi Shirish Kumar, a 38-year-old resident of Vullapalem in Andhra Pradesh’s Prakasam district.

The motive for the Miryalaguda fire murder was reportedly linked to Dhana Lakshmi's refusal to assist Kalahsthi Shirish Kumar in securing bail during a separate cheating case registered at Hajipur. Law enforcement officials stated that the perpetrator invaded the family home during the night of June 5 while the occupants were asleep. He proceeded to douse the family members in petrol and set them ablaze. At the time of this brutal act, Dhana Lakshmi was away, having traveled to Pune to work as a domestic help. Following his arrest in Miryalaguda, the accused reportedly confessed to the heinous crime during custodial interrogation.
