While the Nagarjunasagar Project serves as the primary lifeline, supplementary initiatives like the Rajiv Gandhi Lift Irrigation Scheme are essential to bridge existing gaps and facilitate equitable water distribution.
The minister directed officials to prioritize the completion of these irrigation projects while ensuring that high quality standards are maintained. Once fully operational, the Rajiv Gandhi Lift Irrigation Scheme is expected to provide reliable irrigation coverage to approximately 14,000 acres of land. This expansion will benefit numerous areas, including Mellachervu, Huzurnagar, Kodad, Chintalapalem, and Chilukuru. Beyond direct crop irrigation, the project is also designed to rejuvenate irrigation tanks and significantly improve groundwater levels in surrounding villages.
