K.T. Rama Rao Alleges Massive Destruction Amid Musi River Project Controversy

The Musi River Project has become the center of a heated political debate in Telangana, with allegations of large-scale destruction and displacement affecting vulnerable families. K.T. Rama Rao, working president of the BRS, recently voiced strong opposition against the current state administration, labeling the initiative as a vehicle for widespread community upheaval.

Concerns Over the Musi River Project

Speaking at a meeting with party members in the Rajendranagar constituency, K.T. Rama Rao launched a scathing critique of the Congress government. He claimed that the Musi River Project is leading to the forced relocation of middle-class and impoverished residents residing along the riverbanks. He went on to allege that the project appears to be driven by motives related to generating commissions rather than genuine urban development, suggesting that the acquired land and ongoing demolitions are part of a larger, controversial agenda.

The BRS leader also drew parallels between the state and central leadership, referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy as “Bade Bhai” (elder brother) and “Chote Bhai” (younger brother). He accused them of acting in concert to facilitate land acquisition and home demolitions. Furthermore, Rama Rao claimed that the Chief Minister has been funneling funds to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to ensure he remains in his position, intensifying the political friction surrounding the project.

Ethical and Ideological Clashes

The controversy surrounding the Musi River Project has also taken on an ideological dimension. Rama Rao highlighted that Tushar Gandhi, the great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, has publicly opposed the demolition of homes under the guise of this project. He challenged A. Revanth Reddy's recent proposal to install a statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the city. The BRS leader argued that if the Chief Minister truly honored the values of Mahatma Gandhi, he would immediately halt the destruction of people's homes.

Additionally, Rama Rao targeted the BJP for its perceived duplicity regarding the Musi River Project. While local BJP leaders have been vocal in their opposition to the project in public statements, he alleged that the party’s central leadership has been providing the necessary administrative clearances for the demolitions to proceed. This complex interplay of state and national political interests continues to leave residents in a state of uncertainty as the ambitious riverfront development initiative faces mounting scrutiny and public backlash.
