A new player is entering the Indian auto market with JSW Motors, a move that comes as a result of their partnership with Chery. JSW Motors is set to release their first Indian-made SUV in 2026.

Revealed recently is a teaser for their PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) variant of the Jetotech T2. Design details indicate that the SUV shares a resemblance with the Jetotech T2 but with some modifications.

The teaser showcases a bold front profile with horizontal LED headlights and pixel-shaped fog lights in a round housing. The SUV's bonnet is straight and emphasized, and the bumpers and wheel arches are designed for strength and width. The ORVM (Outside Rear View Mirror) is slightly smaller, while the JWS logo will be replaced with the Jetotech branding.

With regards to powertrains, the Jetotech T2 model is available in EV (Electric Vehicle) and PHEV versions. In India, a PHEV version is expected, packing a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine generating 154 horsepower and 220Nm of torque. An attached battery pack of 26.7 kWh can be configured with either a single or dual-motor setup for FWD or AWD options.

The electric-only range of the SUV could extend up to 139 km, presenting a competitive edge in the Indian market's hybrid SUV segment. For the interior, the model carries forward features such as a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver display, a panoramic sunroof, and a 12-speaker Sony sound system. Besides these, the PHEV variant will also feature advanced safety features like 360-degree camera and level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).

The teaser release indicates that JSW Motors aims to launch this PHEV SUV at a price range of Rs 15 to 30 lakh. In this segment, the SUV could make a headway by challenging the likes of popular Indian SUVs such as the Mahindra XUV 700 and Tata Safari. The planned launch will take place in the Diwali 2026 window, with a slight possibility of a timeline shift due to component import delays.
