IRCTC's New AutoPay Feature Ensures Seamless Booking Experience
IRCTC's AutoPay feature enhances booking efficiency by automatically linking previously deducted payments, reducing refunds and re-entering data issues. It is especially useful during technical glitches or bank server down times.

Highlights
- •AutoPay Resume Retry Booking feature improves booking convenience
- •Only works with IRCTC iPay, not other payment gateways
- •Ensures no additional payments for same amount of previous failed bookings
- •Prevents loss of seats and delays in urgent travel plans
Good news for railway passengers! IRCTC has introduced a new feature, AutoPay, which ensures a hassle-free booking process. Often, when attempting to book a train ticket online, there could be instances where the payment is deducted from your account but the transaction fails due to technical issues or communication problems between the payment gateway and bank servers. In such scenarios, passengers face significant inconvenience as they lose their reserved seat, experience delays in refunds, and might also incur additional costs when searching for trains again.
Understanding AutoPay
The AutoPay Resume Retry Booking feature, now available through IRCTC iPay, is specifically designed to streamline the booking procedure. If a transaction fails despite the payment being deducted from your account, the system retains this information and processes it without requiring additional payments. Passengers can continue with the ticket booking process where they left off, using the same amount previously deducted.
To utilize AutoPay efficiently:
- Select IRCTC iPay on the payment gateway during the booking process.
- Once your booking fails but the money is already deducted from your account, revert to the payment page and click on the 'Resume/Retry' option. This instructs IRCTC's server that you've already entered your payment information successfully in a previous transaction attempt.
If the system recognizes the failed transaction ID with the exact amount, it will link the previous deduction directly to this booking without asking for a new payment. Thus, passengers can avoid re-entering details and ensure their urgent travel needs are met on time.
However, it's important to note that this feature works only if you select iPay. Payment through other bank aggregators like HDFC or ICICI doesn't trigger this auto-processing. The total amount of the new booking must exactly match a previous failed transaction for AutoPay to function properly.
