Tehran, Iran: In a swift and unexpected response to an American attack near the outskirts of Bandar Abbas Airport, Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched targeted strikes on an American airbase early Thursday morning. According to Tasnim News Agency, the IRGC stated: "Following the pre-dawn aggression today by the invading American army... the American airbase was targeted at 4:50 a.m."

The strike is part of an ongoing round of attacks between the US and Iran in the Persian Gulf region. In another report on Wednesday, Tasnim cited military officials as saying that earlier exchanges involved naval forces confronting vessels attempting to enter the Strait of Hormuz without permission.

Strategic Waterways Tension:

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical transit point for global oil trade. A spokesperson from IRGC Navy reported firing on an American tanker that attempted to pass through by turning off its radar. This event reportedly led to US forces responding with 'scorched area' fire around Bandar Abbas, though there were no casualties or property damage as claimed by Tasnim.

U.S. military actions earlier in the week also targeted Iranian drones and ground stations, according to CBS News. The U.S. official stated that four Iranian drones had been shot down, while a control station in Bandar Abbas was bombed following their preparation to launch the fifth missile directly near the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, President Trump remained committed to negotiating with Iran for a ceasefire deal, stressing his determination not to be outlasted irrespective of midterm elections. He pledged that Iran cannot have nuclear weapons and emphasized the importance of keeping the Strait open.
