"Winning the match was more important than achieving a hundred," he said. Patidar's secure background meant he could pursue his dreams without financial constraints like many cricketers before him. His wife Gunjan recently gave birth to their child, a boy, who has not yet been named.
Patidar's performance comes just a day before his 33rd birthday, promising "icing on the cake" if his team goes on to win the final.
