Highlights
- •Indian Railways has discontinued the widely used UTS app and introduced the new RailOne app to consolidate travel-related services.
- •The RailOne app offers all the functionalities of the UTS, including reserved ticket bookings, train tracking, and food ordering with additional features.
- •Users with UTS funds can transfer these to their new accounts in the RailOne app, ensuring they do not miss out on their benefits.
- •The Railways claims the integration will enhance transparency and save time for passengers as they transition to the new app.
The Indian Railways has phased out its widely used UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) app, effective as of March 1, 2026, marking a significant shift in how millions of passengers book their tickets.
The main reason for the shutdown was the confusion caused by the multitude of apps available, including UTS, IRCTC, and now RailOne. With UTS now discontinued, all ticketing needs are now being managed through the new RailOne app, which was introduced in July 2025 by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav.
The RailOne app consolidates everything into a single platform, offering all the functionalities of the UTS, along with extra features such as reserved ticket bookings, train tracking, and food ordering. Additionally, users can enjoy a 3% discount on digital payments. The Railways claims this will enhance transparency and save time. For users who prefer the UTS app, their R-Wallet funds will be automatically transferred to the RailOne app upon the app’s launch.
The Indian Railways’ digital revolution continues as it simplifies the ticket booking process for passengers with the introduction of RailOne. However, rural areas with limited internet access continue to face challenges in adapting to this change.
Make sure to download the RailOne app and update your UTS mobile number and R-Wallet ID to ensure a seamless transition to the new system.
