Highlights

  • India launched its first Space-Sector Digital Capability Repository at the India Space Congress.
  • The E-Catalogue includes over 200 verified space and defense companies across diverse domains.
  • SIA-India led the development of the platform to improve industry collaboration and business discovery.
  • Two strategic reports were unveiled addressing satellite servicing and space-based computing infrastructure.

A significant development for the nation's space sector was unveiled this Tuesday during the India Space Congress (ISC) in New Delhi. The event saw the official launch of India's first comprehensive Space-Sector Digital Capability Repository, an initiative designed to streamline and bolster the country's growing space economy.

Enhancing Capability and Collaboration in the Space Sector

The newly launched Indian Space Industry E-Catalogue serves as a centralized, reliable digital platform. By aggregating data from more than 200 verified space and defense enterprises across nearly 20 primary domains and over 120 sub-domains, the repository facilitates seamless capability discovery. This initiative is intended to foster enhanced collaboration, encourage business development, and strengthen the overall framework of the domestic space ecosystem.

The platform was brought to fruition by the Satcom Industry Association (SIA)-India, a prominent non-profit organization dedicated to representing the interests and advancement of the national space industry. By providing a singular point of access for industry capabilities, the E-Catalogue is poised to simplify project sourcing and strategic partnerships for entities operating within this highly technical field.

Strategic Insights and Future Opportunities

Beyond the launch of the digital repository, the second day of the ISC was marked by the release of two critical strategic reports focusing on the future of the global space economy. The first report, titled “Building India's On-Orbit Servicing and Refuelling Ecosystem: Policy, Partnerships and Pathways Forward,” was produced in collaboration with OrbitAID. This document provides a comprehensive roadmap for advancing national capabilities in satellite servicing, assembly, and manufacturing.

The second report, developed alongside TakeMe2Space, is titled “India's Strategic Opportunity in Space-Based Compute Infrastructure.” This analysis delves into the transformative potential of orbital data centers and in-space computing. It identifies these technologies as essential pillars for the future of digital infrastructure, the growth of artificial intelligence, and the enhancement of sovereign computing power. As the India Space Congress prepares to conclude its proceedings on Wednesday, these initiatives underscore India's commitment to securing a pivotal role in the future of international space technology and the burgeoning global space economy.
