Highlights

  • Multiple Hygiene Violations Found: Unhygienic conditions and improper storage highlighted
  • Food Safety Concerns: Issues with meat storage, labeling, and protective gear observed
  • Non-compliance Score: Establishment scored 43%, reflecting poor hygiene standards
  • Show-Cause Notice Issued: Immediate rectification required to address critical safety issues

Inspectors from the Cyberabad CMC Food Safety team visited Gismat Jail Mandi in Madeenaguda, Hyderabad on Wednesday and discovered numerous violations of food safety and hygiene regulations. The inspection revealed significant issues with the storage and handling of meat products, including chicken, mutton, and fish. Additionally, the establishment lacked a valid FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) license.

During their assessment, officials noted that raw and partially prepared non-vegetarian items were not properly labeled. Pest control records, water testing reports, and health documents for food handlers were unavailable when required. The dishwashing area was found to be unhygienic due to stagnant water and accumulation of waste, while storage containers for ingredients were disorganized.

Workers Were Found Working Without Essential Safety Gear

Food service workers were observed without protective aprons or gloves. Furthermore, the inspection uncovered that metal knives and inadequate chopping boards were being used, adding yet another layer of safety concerns in what is a critical food preparatory area.

The lighting conditions in both the kitchen and storage areas were subpar, contributing to an overall unsatisfactory assessment score. In total, the establishment scored 43 out of 102 points on the hygiene scale, equating to just 43 percent compliance with regulations.

Promptly, the officials issued a show-cause notice to Gismat Jail Mandi and advised immediate rectification of these infractions. All perishable items not in adherence were promptly discarded to ensure public safety.
