Around 5 PM on Tuesday evening, heavy rain with strong winds and lightning affected the districts of Anantapur and parts of Satya Sai. The storm was particularly fierce in Kadiri, where lightning struck the historic Kadiri Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple's west Gopuram, causing significant damage.
Widespread Tree Damage
Severe winds uprooted many trees in Anantapur city. Consequently, several fell on power lines, resulting in a disruption of electricity supply for over an hour. The Andhra Pradesh Transmission Corporation (AP Transco) rushed to the scene and successfully restored power almost an hour after the initial disruption.
Similar issues arose in Aravinda Nagar and Housing Board areas. A tree fell near the TB Ward of the Government General Hospital, creating panic among patients and staff alike. Emergency services were promptly called to manage the situation effectively.
Safety Concerns and Community Impact
Residents reported numerous downed trees throughout both districts, obstructing roads and posing safety risks. The local administration has advised residents to remain vigilant during stormy weather conditions.
