Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has publicly championed the practice of yoga, describing it as a timeless gift from India to the global community. During the recent celebrations for the International Day of Yoga held at Lok Bhavan, the Governor emphasized that this ancient discipline serves as a vital instrument for achieving physical fitness, mental clarity, and spiritual harmony.
The event witnessed participation from senior administrative figures, including the Governor’s special chief secretary M. Dana Kishore, joint secretary Shashikiran Komandur, and deputy secretary G. Pallavi, who joined staff members in the observance. Facilitators from The Art of Living provided expert guidance, leading the attendees through a series of traditional asanas and breathing techniques.

During his address, Shiv Pratap Shukla highlighted that the International Day of Yoga offers a path toward self-discipline and tranquility in an increasingly demanding world. He also took the opportunity to commend Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his significant efforts in securing widespread global recognition for this health-centric initiative.
The benefits of the practice were further underscored by the Intelligence Security Wing (ISW), which hosted its own commemorative event at the PET Parade Grounds in Yousufguda. Under the supervision of Deployment SP Syed Basha and with CMSG G. Chakravarthi attending as the chief guest, the session focused on the utility of yoga for personnel. It was noted that such routines are essential for security officers to manage high levels of stress and maintain sharp alertness while on duty. Additional SP Vasudeva Reddy guided the assembly through the common yoga protocol, encompassing meditation and pranayama.

Educational and medical institutions also joined the nationwide celebrations. At AIIMS Bibinagar, the events were centered around the theme of “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” This initiative included a comprehensive week-long series of programs designed to cater to various demographics. Activities spanned from specialized sessions for pregnant women and adolescents to tailored exercises for geriatric patients and schoolchildren.
The outreach programs included educational radio segments focusing on topics such as Garbhsanskar, Bala Yoga, and Chakra Meditation. The institution concluded its week-long observance with a mass demonstration of the yoga protocol, a virtual address by Prime Minister Modi, and instructional performances by students. The gathering provided a holistic experience for faculty, staff, and community members, reinforcing the importance of integrating such health practices into everyday life.
