In a touching tribute, actress Esha Deol expressed deep emotion while witnessing the posthumous Padma Vibhushan award being handed to her father, legendary Bollywood star Dharmendra. The accolade, awarded for his extraordinary contributions to Indian cinema and arts, was accepted by Hema Malini, his wife, at a ceremony in New Delhi on Monday.

"A moment of pride, A moment of emotion," Esha wrote. "How we so deeply wished he was present today, dressed in a crisp white shirt and blue suit, looking as handsome as always, with the excitement of a young boy going to receive the prestigious award."
Esha also highlighted her daughter Ahana's role, as she represented their father at the ceremony. "Yesterday, my mother represented our family and received the award. And the youngest of us, Ahana, represented all six of us, his children, & shed tears & clapped in honour of our father, a man who we love, who we cherish, who we miss & who we proudly call our papa . Forever in our hearts," she added.
Dharmendra passed away in November 2025 at the age of 89. He has featured in over 300 films during his illustrious career, leaving an indelible mark on Indian cinema.
