The Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) interest rate for the upcoming financial year 2025-26 remains unchanged at 8.25%, following recommendations by the Central Board of Trustees of the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO).
The central government is expected to formally announce the interest rate, which will be followed by the EPFO crediting interest to its members' accounts. A common query is when interest will be received. Usually, this process can take anywhere from 3 to 6 months after the announcement.
EPF members can check their account balance through various means such as the UMANG app, e-Seva portal, missed call service, and SMS. EPFO has also approved a pilot project for the automatic settlement of inactive EPF accounts holding deposits under a certain threshold, and a one-time amnesty scheme for income tax-exempt provident fund trusts.
The EPF Board has approved a green light on these initiatives, aiming to streamline processes and improve efficiency for both members and employers.
