Design Spark Challenge 2026 Fuels Digital Transformation in Andhra Pradesh

Highlights

  • Design Spark Challenge: 48-hour innovation marathon for youth empowerment
  • School of Design Thinking (SoDT): Human-centric problem-solving approach
  • 15 selected startup teams working to build integrated digital education ecosystems
  • 'Design the Thinking' methodology: Emphasizes stakeholder empathy and systems thinking

The Design Spark Challenge 2026 is igniting creativity among young innovators in Andhra Pradesh, with a focus on developing future-ready digital learning ecosystems. Hosted by the Andhra Pradesh Innovation Society (APIS) in conjunction with Ratan Tata Innovation Hub (RTIH) and School of Design Thinking (SoDT), this innovation marathon challenges 15 carefully selected startup teams to design integrated digital solutions that address gaps in educational infrastructure.

Human-Centric Approach

Unlike traditional hackathons centered on coding, this program leverages SoDT's 'Design the Thinking' methodology. It emphasizes human-centered problem-solving, stakeholder empathy, strategic inquiry, and systems thinking to foster a holistic approach to innovation.

The 48-hour marathon began on June 2, in Amaravati, and concludes on June 4 at RTIH's premises. Participants are tasked with creating an integrated digital ecosystem that connects learning, mentorship, innovation support, industry engagement, and entrepreneurship opportunities. This project aims to build a scalable and future-ready digital learning environment for the state.

Strategic Importance

APIS and RTIH CEO P. Dhatri Reddy underscores the initiative's alignment with Andhra Pradesh's vision of fostering a globally competitive startup ecosystem while advancing digital governance through innovation. The challenge holds potential to generate pilot solutions that could be integrated into the state's education and innovation frameworks.

Dhatri Reddy stated, 'Our objective is not just to create innovative solutions but also to ensure their seamless integration with existing systems in a sustainable manner.' This approach ensures long-term benefit and ongoing improvements in public service delivery.
