Bangalore saw a gathering of supporters outside the residence of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar early Thursday amid speculation surrounding potential leadership changes within the Congress party. This event follows CM Siddaramaiah's call for a breakfast meeting with key party leaders today, highlighting internal discussions and shifting roles.

Leadership Change Brewing

Veteran politician R Sampath Raj was among those seen arriving at DK Shivakumar's residence. The Congress leadership is reportedly inclined towards making changes, with CM Siddaramaiah instructed to pave the way for a new leader.

The speculation over DK Shivakumar's elevation has been persistent since the Karnataka government completed half its term last year. Sources indicate another round of talks and meetings are expected before a final decision is made. Meanwhile, official statements from Congress maintain that the meeting focused on upcoming Rajya Sabha polls and council elections, dismissing reports about possible leadership changes.

Speaking at a press conference, KC Venugopal, General Secretary (Organization), confirmed candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha seats in Karnataka would be announced. He highlighted the discussions with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and LoP Rahul Gandhi.

MLA Ashok M Pattan also hinted that CM Siddaramaiah might file his resignation tomorrow after 3 PM, stressing that the decision on the next Chief Minister will be made by the High Command. "DK Shivakumar is highly likely to take over as the new Chief Minister," he predicted.

Mainstreaming current events with past developments, Siddaramaiah mentioned upcoming discussions with the Congress high command scheduled for tomorrow amidst speculative buzz about possible changes in leadership.
