Chief Minister's Emphasis on Non-Political Nature

In a press briefing, Adhikari emphasized that the census operations would not be influenced by political considerations. With the Indian nation progressing in its census methods, West Bengal aims to catch up with other states, according to his statement.

"India has made significant strides in census activities," he noted, "but we need to follow suit and align ourselves more closely." The chief minister also expressed concerns over demographic shifts in parts of the state due to alleged cross-border infiltration. These changes are attributed to a 600-kilometer-long unfenced border with Bangladesh, where previous administrations did not hand over land to Border Security Force (BSF) for necessary fencing.

Adhikari stressed the importance of accurate data for effective governance and strategic planning. "The census is crucial; I urge every West Bengal citizen to participate," he stated before attending a meeting at Nabanna, which marked the start of the first phase of the new census process.

These measures aim to ensure comprehensive and reliable demographic information for policymakers in West Bengal. Participation by the public is vital, as it directly impacts resource allocation and policy formulation."
