NALGONDA: In a recent address at the felicitation meeting for Stambhadri Urban Development Authority (SUDA) chairman, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka alleged that during the 10-year tenure of the previous Birsa Raj Society (BRS) government, wealth was amass by one family while public welfare programs were inadequately funded. This allegation stems from an assertion that although Telangana was achieved under protracted agitation and sacrifice, the BRS failed to address the aspirations of the people.

Mr. Bhatti emphasized that due to the prolonged neglect by the BRS government, the electorate shifted allegiance in 2024 elections, voting for Congress on a platform of clear welfare and developmental promises. He stressed that Congress would fulfill these assurances, offering recognition and opportunities to dedicated party members and leaders between 2014 and 2023.

Key Welfare Initiatives by New Government

The upcoming launch of the Indiramma Bheema insurance scheme aims to protect 1.15 crore families with Rs. 5 lakh worth of coverage each. Additionally, Mr. Bhatti highlighted multiple welfare measures including a rice paddy bonus at Rs. 500 per quintal, free electricity up to 200 units monthly, and free travel for women on TGSRTC buses. Other flagship programs like the Indiramma housing scheme and self-help groups aiming to uplift one crore families financially all underscored his government's commitment.

Bhatti criticized BRS propaganda as misleading, asserting that growing support for the government could be attributed to welfare initiatives being effectively implemented. He also announced a robust plan to improve women's financial independence through self-help group activities and interest-free loans of up to Rs. 20,000 crore annually.
