A tragic domestic violence case has emerged in Bengaluru, where a 34-year-old woman serving as a home guard was brutally murdered by her husband. The incident, which took place on Sunday evening, has left the local community in shock after the victim was attacked in the presence of her family members.
The victim, Manjula, was employed as a home guard at the Mahadevapura police station. Reports indicate that she had been living with her two children at her parents' residence in Udayanagar for approximately a month, following persistent marital conflicts. Her husband, identified as 38-year-old Pradeep Kumar, who works as an auto-rickshaw driver, arrived at the home under the guise of reconciliation.
Details of the Tragic Incident
According to law enforcement officials, Pradeep Kumar requested a discussion regarding the potential restoration of their marriage. During this interaction, he allegedly knelt before Manjula to plead for forgiveness. However, as she let her guard down, he suddenly produced a knife and inflicted multiple fatal wounds. Manjula sustained at least eight stab injuries to her chest and abdomen, resulting in her death shortly after arriving at a nearby hospital.
The severity of this domestic violence case is further highlighted by the involvement of the couple's 14-year-old daughter. The teenager sustained injuries to her finger while bravely attempting to intervene and protect her mother from the attacker. Following the assault, Pradeep Kumar fled the scene, notified the authorities of his actions, and subsequently attempted suicide by cutting his wrists.
Investigators probing the motive behind this domestic violence case revealed that the couple had been married for 15 years. Their relationship had been deteriorating due to Pradeep Kumar's struggles with alcohol, online gaming, and betting, which led to significant financial hardship for the family. Furthermore, investigators noted that the accused had expressed unfounded suspicions regarding his wife's fidelity.
Disturbingly, hours before the fatal attack, Pradeep Kumar recorded several selfie videos. In these recordings, he admitted that his gambling addiction had dismantled his family life. He also voiced grievances against his mother-in-law and sister-in-law, accusing them of influencing Manjula to remain separated from him. The police have taken the accused into custody, and a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding this horrific event is currently underway.
