The state government of Andhra Pradesh has officially launched an ambitious economic roadmap, with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu setting a target to achieve a 15 per cent growth rate under the Swarna Andhra Vision-2047. This strategic initiative aims to significantly boost the state's economic standing, building upon previous performance benchmarks. Historical data indicates that the region recorded a compound annual growth rate of 13.5 per cent during the 2014-2019 period, while current metrics place the growth rate at approximately 11 per cent.

Driving Growth Through Strategic Partnerships

To facilitate the realization of the Swarna Andhra Vision-2047, the Andhra Pradesh planning department has formalized a collaborative partnership. A memorandum of understanding was signed with the Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR), which is affiliated with KREA University. The agreement was finalized by Piyush Kumar, the principal secretary of the planning department, and Kapil Viswanatahan, representing IFMR.

This collaboration is designed to provide comprehensive support for implementing the ten core guiding principles of the vision. IFMR will play a pivotal role by overseeing the establishment of specialized mission cells focused on achieving state GSDP (Gross State Domestic Product) targets and fostering sustainable, higher growth rates. The scope of work involves conducting field-level research, providing data-driven policy recommendations, and introducing innovative methodologies for critical areas, including Zero Poverty, Water Security, and Deep Tech missions.

Integrating Advanced Technology for Development

A central pillar of the Swarna Andhra Vision-2047 is the large-scale integration of advanced technologies across diverse sectors. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu emphasized that the government is prioritizing the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Quantum Technologies to accelerate regional development. The state has already begun attracting significant projects in sectors such as drone mapping, automobile manufacturing, steel production, rare earth minerals, semiconductors, and defense manufacturing.

To ensure rigorous oversight, the government plans to constitute a state-level commission along with dedicated mission working groups. These bodies will be responsible for monitoring progress and facilitating the implementation of the ten guiding principles to keep the state on track for its 2047 development goals. The event was attended by finance minister Payyavula Keshav, alongside key officials from the planning department and representatives from the academic and research partner institutions.
