Andhra Pradesh took a monumental step towards its wellness ambitions by launching Yogandhra, an initiative aiming to integrate the ancient practice of yoga into modern life. On day one, over 25,000 people registered for this nationwide movement, reflecting the growing global interest in yoga.
Yoga Training Reaches Over 50,752 Across State
The initial day saw more than just registrations; it was a training bonanza with over 50,752 people participating. Commissioner (Health and Family Welfare) G.Veerapandian announced that 5,992 master trainers have completed their training and are now conducting sessions across the state's 28 districts.
Widespread Participation and Themes
Initiatives spanned diverse locations. In Vijayawada, about 1,000 police personnel joined a specialty session, while farmers from Amalapuram gathered for their designated time slot. Gram and ward secretariats held awareness competitions involving nearly 1,700 people in under a day.
Roughly parallel themes like 'Health Through Yoga' and 'Yoga for Everyone' have been integrated into programs at sites such as Lepakshi Temple, Vontimitta, Kadapa district, Manginapudi Beach in Krishna district, SV Zoo Park in Tirupati, and more.
The government's Health Minister, Satya Kumar Yadav, emphasized yoga's cultural and health significance. He urged people to actively participate, promising continuous awareness drives till June 20, just before the International Yoga Day on June 21.
