Russia has intensified its military operations in Ukraine, warning that consistent and systematic attacks are impending on key defence infrastructure in Kyiv. The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a stark ultimatum, advising foreign citizens to evacuate the city amid reports of increased drone activities targeting Ukrainian facilities.
The warning comes following Ukraine's deadliest drone strike, which reportedly killed 18 people and injured 42 at Starobilsk. Moscow has alleged that Kyiv deploys drones with NATO-backed specialists who supply critical reconnaissance data. Russian authorities have warned that facilities in Kyiv are being extensively targeted by their military response.
Russia's Strategic Strikes on Ukraine
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated, 'Russia's Armed Forces are beginning to launch consistent and systematic strikes on Ukrainian defence industry enterprises in Kyiv, including specific facilities for designing, manufacturing, and programming drones.'
Adding to the strain on civilians, Moscow has urged residents of Kyiv to stay away from military administration infrastructure. The ministry advised foreign nationals to depart the city as soon as possible, given the scattered distribution of defense-related facilities across the capital.
The threats escalated as Ukraine significantly expanded its drone warfare capabilities in recent months, successfully targeting Russian energy infrastructure multiple times. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned of a looming shortage in anti-ballistic defenses for Ukraine, emphasizing efforts to secure sufficient quantities via collaborations with European partners.
Zelenskyy elaborated, stating, 'We are working with all our partners on air defence capabilities—this is the first priority. Anti-ballistic capabilities are now in short supply globally because of the war with Iran.'
