Vijayawada, India - Nine years after the tragic rape and murder of Sugali Preeti, her parents have accused political leaders of using the case for personal gain while justice remains elusive. Parvathi Naik and Raju Naik confronted YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at the party's central office in Tadepalli, seeking support for the 2017 legal battle.

Political Patronage and Stalled Investigations

The family acknowledged receiving assistance from the previous government, including a house site and agricultural land. However, they alleged that with the coalition's rise to power in 2020, the CBI's investigation waned, while their pension was subsequently terminated.

Jagan Mohan Reddy offered legal and political backing during a subsequent media interview with Parvathi Naik. She, however, accused Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan of politicizing the case. He had purportedly promised justice between 2020 and 2024 but, according to families' claims, reneged on his promises by denying appointments and alleging evidence tampering.

Raju Naik is still seeking a job in alignment with legal redress from the government. The case continues to be a contentious issue within political circles, raising questions about the impact of political affiliations on judicial processes.
