Several regions across India are facing a dramatic shift in weather patterns, with warnings of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. The Meteorological Department has issued critical alerts for multiple states, urging the public to remain vigilant as the season unfolds.
Cyclone-Induced Warnings: 12 States on Alert
Forecasts indicate that Punjab, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, and Sikkim are under severe weather conditions. Farmers in these regions should take precautionary measures against lightning strikes.
Rajasthan, for instance, is expecting heavy downpours accompanied by thunderstorms. Similar alerts have been issued for various districts of Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat over two consecutive days.
Delhi's skies are not expected to clear any time soon, with March 26 predicting thunder and winds reaching up to 40 kilometers per hour (km/h). On the following day, March 27, several regions in eastern India—like Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal—are also under warning due to heavy rainfall.
Western parts of Bihar and Sikkim could experience hailstorms along with strong winds. Meanwhile, moderate showers are expected in Jharkhand over March 25, 27, and 28, complemented by thunder and lightning.
The impact extends across Uttar Pradesh, where an all-out alert has been issued for most districts starting from March 27. This includes areas like Agra, Auraiya, Mainpuri, Etawah, Firozabad, Hamirpur, Prayagraj, Sonbhadra, Banda, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Mahoba, and Varanasi.
These conditions could pose significant challenges during the ongoing monsoon season, affecting agricultural practices and daily life. With winds gusting at speeds over 70 km/h in some regions, residents are advised to prepare accordingly.
